Darwin Serink is an award-winning Canadian/American Filmmaker who has established himself as a creative force in various art forms. After achieving significant success in fashion with his brands PROM and POUR LES GENS, as well as danced for choreographer Ryan Heffington's company Psycho Dance Show, Darwin moved into his true passion, filmmaking. He received his BFA in Film from Art Center College of Design and studied at the UCLA Professional Screenwriters Program. An alumnus of Creative Artists Agency (CAA), Darwin was a Professional Creative for five years. He had the opportunity to create multimedia projects for some of the most influential figures in the world.
His debut film ABAN + KHORSHID, inspired by a true story of two gay Iranian men tragically executed for being gay, has screened at over sixty film festivals worldwide. Most notable awards include; Cannes Emerging Filmmakers Showcase – Best LGBT Film, Cleveland International Film Festival – Best LGBT Short and Seattle International Film Festival – Special Jury Award: "A beautifully filmed and tragic story, based on real-life events, about freedoms here that carry the death penalty elsewhere."
His most recent film EL AGUACATE tackles the current immigration crisis created by the US administration. EL AGUACATE has screened throughout the world, most notably programmed on Air Canada's inflight screening series.
As a director, Darwin is passionate about telling stories of underserved people whose voices deserve recognition.
